Our Guide to Round Top
A couple weeks ago Aymee and I had our first trip to Round Top! It was a such a fun trip and a bit of a blur. We were non-stop the entire time, sourcing some great vintage finds for our clients and met up with some designer friends. Today we are sharing our favorites spots from the trip and hopefully inspire your next trip to Round Top!
Where to Stay
Aymee & I stayed at the Proper Hotel designed by the incredible Kelly Wearstler. Truly a one of a kind space that reflects Austin so well. The food was amazing, there’s a rooftop pool and river views... However we were too busy to sit by the pool, next time ;) What more could you want? We highly recommend!
Roundtop
Being our first trip to Round Top we didn’t know exactly what to expect, but it exceeded any expectations we did have. We sourced some incredible vintage pieces for our full service clients and met up with some designer friends which was the cherry on top of the whole experience. Some of our favorite places to visit in Round Top:
Marburger: This is one of the most popular spots at Roundtop and for good reason! We recommend going your first day, it will be busy and sells out quickly… When I say busy, I mean plan on waiting in your car for a few hours on the single lane road for the opening. Also, buy early bird tickets!
The Compound: Eneby Home is another popular spot and located at The Compound. We fell head over heels in love with those Sherpa chairs! Great food trucks in this spot as well.
Blue Hills: Another favorite stop for interior designers. We love its rustic vibe, feels very “authentically” Texas. We found a few really special pieces there for clients.
Austin
On our last night in Austin we met up with some of our designer friends at the Salt Lick for some true Austin BBQ. In our friend Anastasia’s words “think barbecue in a vineyard”. We so enjoyed being outside for dinner in March (unheard of in the PNW) and talking all things life and business with friends that we were meeting in real life (which is a rarity)!
What to Pack
Based on our experience - we recommend packing light layers. One thing I wasn’t fully prepared for was the humidity, so glad I packed all my favorites from Honest Cotton, truly lifesaving. And don’t forget your cowboy hat ;)
We plan on making the trip next March!
