5. Recipe disclaimer about the structure or lack there of: Here’s where the idea stemmed from for having Aymee share a recipe each week. The running joke is that she is “Martha Stewart”… Aymee always makes the best recipes, and most of them are created on the spot, without measurements or too much thought. So, each week, Ayms will share a recipe, with no real measurements. All of her recipes are “one hit wonders.” She uses what’s in the fridge and improvises. For those people who need and diligently follow a recipe…do not read on!

Words from Ayms: Fall is here, time to make some soup! Taco soup is a go-to for us…I usually have the ingredients on hand because there are a lot of “options here."


Pick your meat (chicken, ground beef, or skip the meat!) brown

Pick your veggies (always onions but this time I added cauliflower, carrots, pepper) brown in 1/2 butter and half olive oil. Add olives/corn later.

Add can of tomato’s and beans. (Any old bean type will do, pick what you like or what’s in the cupboard). Combine with meat and sautéed veg.

Now throw in your spices (salt, pepper, cumin, taco season, and if your feeling risky cinnamon sugar! For reals, try it). Add water…to the consistency you like about 1 cup.

Bring to a boil, then simmer 10min. Stir in olives/corn (optional).

Serve with chips, sour cream, and shredded cheese! Enjoy!

Can you keep a secret? I think we are in the clear because my girls don’t read our blog or follow us too closely! I think. I am working on a gift for them for Christmas. As they are heading into young adulthood, I got them recipe boxes that I will fill with their favorite recipes and I’m asking our family/friends to share one too. The legacy of love through good food and folks around the kitchen table was passed from my Grandma Charlotte to me and I think her everyday because of that and now I get to pass it onto my girls! Hooray!
