Nebraska Lake House Reveal - Part 2
We’re so excited to continue sharing our Nebraska Lake House Project with you today! We used lots of vintage pieces in this project. As a general rule of thumb, every design incorporates 50% vintage accessories and 50% new accessories from sustainable/ethical sources. Vintage is one of the best ways to practice sustainability as there is no new manufacturing required. Plus, it really gives that Lived-In look that Light and Dwell is known for! We went antiquing in the Omaha area during the install and found amazing pieces! The copper pots and kettle, wooden stools, and oil paintings are just a few that really elevated this home and gave it a lived-in, curated aesthetic. To hear more about this project, and all that went into it, make sure you watch our Project Reveal Video below!
We took a risk by going dark in this kitchen. To give this kitchen a European feel, we incorporated all unlacquered brass finishes, English pendants over the island, and vintage doors into the pantry. The large white oak island warms up the space, and makes the kitchen inviting and rich. A favorite find while antiquing for the project were these copper pots hung inside the shelving, they add so much character to the space!
In the dining area, it's all in the drapes! The drapes make this room and not only add privacy, but warmth as well. Mixing materials and textures was essential in making this dining room feel more relaxed and curated. We wanted this space to feel warm, inviting, and comfortable.
For the living room, we knew this space would be the main spot for gathering. Incorporating an upholstered ottoman was a way we made the living room feel more cozy and lived in. Because the walls and windows are white, and the flooring is lighter tile, we needed to warm up this open space by added a lot of layering pieces. Lots of textiles, vintage finds, and textures were key to making this lake home not feel cold.
Stayed tuned for the last of the our NB Lakehouse Project reveals!
