Cotswolds Countryhouse: Behind Closed Doors Pt. V
Big things are happening over at CC and I could not be more excited. The shape of the home is really starting to take place now that the sheetrock is up. I have also finalized my tile selections for the entry which will create this special ambiance and set the tone when entering the home. Windows are FINALLY here too, and lots of them! Keep reading to hear what style windows I went with and who I decided to work with on all of my window covering needs…
walls & sheetrock
One of the most exciting parts of any project is when walls start going up and you begin to see the footprint of your future home. We are officially at the “light at the end of the tunnel” stage with Cotswolds and the new designs have made such a huge impact. Some of the major updates include the living room fireplace, which is now in it’s new location: it was originally in the corner and is now centered and will be flanked by two large windows. The whole great room space feels so much grander now with a focal point. The hallway into the great room has also been widened and is much more spacious. The primary wing has definitely had the biggest facelift. The next step will be drywalling and adding the roman clay to the walls which will add texture and personality— EEK!
Zia tile
I am really excited to be partnering with Zia Tiles on all the tile in my home. I especially love their limestone offering; the natural materials and colors really speak to me. The first sneak peek I will be sharing is my entry tile selection. I decided to go with a fun check pattern and really love how it’s starting to look and feel. It gives a nod to that Old World European design that I truly admire. I recently did a similar floor choice in the English Colonial project entry and was super inspired by it. I’m looking forward to having that same look in my home. More Zia Tile updates to come..
windows & Everhem samples
If you haven’t noticed, I LOVE natural light and shadows! One of my biggest regrets in our last house was not having enough windows.. I made sure to add plenty of them to this home. So far we have added 10’ wide windows in the dining room, living room, my office, and a few of the bedrooms. I am really excited about the impact they’re going to have on the interior; creating so many beautiful moments and adding an overall moodiness to each space (depending on the weather).
With that said, I have been anxiously awaiting their arrival. They were a couple of weeks delayed but are finally here and getting installed! Windows can bring the outdoors in and are really going to help give this home it’s identity, connecting interior to landscape. I’m adding grids to all of the windows to give the home more of an Old World Traditional look. I went with white aluminum clad on the exterior and the interior is unfinished pine that will eventually be painted the same color as the interior walls.
Unfortunately, a few of the windows were off in the breakfast nook and I am having to get a couple of them reglazed so that the grid pattern is correct. It’s all part of the process though. Sometimes things happen that you are not expecting and you just have to be adaptable and pivot.
While we are talking windows, I wanted to share some of my plans for window coverings. Yes, they are something that I am already thinking about even before all of the windows are installed. I really prioritize these selections as they add so much texture, depth and warmth to a space. I will be working with Everhem on all of my window coverings. I will be doing some sheer and some privacy depending on the room, and a combination of full length drapes, outside mount roman shades, and cafe curtains. Everhem has been so amazing to work with! They even flew to Oregon to review and go over all the windows so that we can be well prepared for when we are ready to order and install treatments. Stay tuned!
