Fall '22 Trends We Can't Get Enough Of
We have compiled our predicted design trends that are on the horizon for Fall 2022. Read more to see exactly what will be trending in the design industry for the upcoming season.
1. Earthy Velvets
Few fabrics are more opulent than velvet. It’s a classic staple in a variety design styles and is often used to elevate spaces with its luxurious yet down-to-earth feel. We are seeing earthy velvets and even some prints popping up in almost every room of the house. It’s soft texture is a great way to create warmth and a cozy look while still enhancing a room.
2. Pattern Play
If you’ve been following us for a while, you know we’re crazy for checkers. Lucky for us, pattern play isn’t going anywhere. From bedding to corresponding wallpaper and drapery, pillows, vintage-inspired lighting, and flooring/tile, prints are here to stay. Our favorites for Fall? Block prints, florals, ginghams, checks, abstract botanica, and stripes. Patterns are even more special when they are hand-painted or block-printed by artisans and purveyed from France, Italy, or India.
3. All Wood Everything
We incorporate wood in just about every home we design. It has raw one-of-a-kind character we can’t live without. Whether it acts as an accent (insert vintage wooden stool), is the centerpiece of a room (European hutch or island), or even floor to ceiling cabinetry/millwork, wood is one of our favorite organic materials to incorporate. There’s no one-size-fits-all way to design with nature, especially if you are creating a custom stain or working with different grains/species, but this season it’s time to add all the warm, craftsmanship quality you can find.
4. Marble*ous
Is there any material in the world of home design so coveted as marble? With its endless potential for mix-and-match styling, real marble is one of the most versatile and timeless stones. Did you catch our latest marble design of a scalloped fireplace? Head to our instagram to see!!! One of our favorite places to use marble is the kitchen or bathroom, where it’s diverse tones, textures, and grains bring a unique, contemporary aesthetic with heirloom appeal.
5. Seeing Scallops
Scallops are a riff on traditional décor—think ancient sinks, bedding ruffles, wavy valences, and vintage embroidery—reimagined as unconventional designs in every category. The “scallop” name comes from the shell emblem and is an ode to the Mediterranean sea. Now, the feminine design is used in difficult marble, joinery, iron, linen, and more for a make-you-look-twice effect. For us, scallops are an organic nod in spaces that need something eye-catching and playful. We bet you can find a scallop accent in almost every room we’ve designed the past few years!
6. Hand-Painted
Hand-painted elements are beyond special and one of our first signs the piece is vintage. They tell a story and add personality without saying a thing…talk about an heirloom…Hand-made scenes or chinoiseries are typically a European interpretation or Chinese artistic tradition. The paintings typically reflect the arts, garden design, architecture, literature, theatre, and music. We will be seeing them pop up in unique ways this season: vintage plates/platters as wall art, antique tiles, custom borders, etc. Keep an eye out while thrifting, these charming pieces might be in hard to look places.
