Trip to CA and New #Lagunabeachterraceproject
Last week, I went on a family road trip to California. Piled all the kids into the car, and drove 15 hours down to Southern California for a getaway!
While in Southern California, I stopped in at our newest project in Laguna Beach. The home is absolutely charming, a few blocks away from the ocean, and has so many beautiful details already. The clients are also absolutely lovely, themselves creatives and business owners. Aesthetically, we’re a perfect match, which will make this project a fun one to watch! We walked through the project, and today, we have their mood board presentation to set the design direction for the project. Can’t wait to have you follow along with this one!
When in Laguna, I was also able to meet our newest team member, Ali in real life! Being remote, we don’t get to be in person too often. I work very closely with Ali, she’s our Director of brand and marketing, so meeting her in person was something I was really looking forward to! It’s no surprise we showed up wearing basically the same outfit! We went to the most charming coffee shop and dinner spot. Can’t wait to see her again soon at our next install in September!
Malibu farm is a must if you’re in the area! We went to one of the beaches in Malibu on our last day. The best local farm to table restaurant in the area. Also, Malibu is nothing like the Oregon Coast… I don’t think I’ve worn a bathing suit at the beach in a few years, ha. It was gorgeous!
We stayed at the most amazing airbnb in Topanga Canyon, which is close to Malibu. The style isn’t necessary one we design at Light and Dwell, but the minimal, modern aesthetic was really inspiring and one I can appreciate. The views alone were incredible!
Had to stop by the Santa Monica Proper when driving through the area. I’m so inspired by Kelly Wearstler. I appreciate her design approach, and am always learning from her! We have really different aesthetics, but the way she mixes textures and patterns is something I take note of. She’s a trailblazer for quality, well designed hotels. Anytime we’re in the area or close to one, it’s a must to stay at!
In Redlands, my aunt and uncle have lived on an orange grove since before I was born. It’s the most charming, historic home. Full of history and nostalgic memories. I remember picking oranges out in the grove every spring break as a kid. Taking my kids this summer felt extra special, and all the memories came flooding back. It was a great few days spent on our trip. Also, there’s nothing like Southern California citrus.
Right before I left for my trip, I threw my sister a “peaches” baby shower! She just adopted her second baby girl, and I was so excited to throw her and Emilia a baby shower. Hosting and throwing events is something both Aymee and I love to do. It was a beautiful evening. My cousin, Stemm Floral did all the florals for the event. Love having creative people all around me!
