How To Put Together a Mood Board

Today we are sharing our process on creating a mood board with you! If you’re thinking about renovating a space (or dreaming about it..), this is a great process to narrow down your style and make sure that everything goes together. It helps give clear direction for when you purchase items for your room, kind of like a guideline!

  1. Find a Color Palette

We often find color palettes we love in floral arrangements! Check out our pinterest for floral arrangements we love. Try to stick with neutral color palettes with soft/muted colors!

  2. Decide on Key Words

We always decide which words describe the space before we even start to gather inspiration. It’s how you want to the room to feel when you walk in. Here are some words that will give you a place to start: modern, traditional, layered, textured, clean, minimal, earthy, organic.

  3. Gather Inspiration

This is the fun part! Next step is to head to pinterest! Start a board and keep your color palette and keywords in mind when you are looking for inspiration. Go back on your pinterest board and make sure all of the rooms have the same “feeling" and “color palette”.

  4. Find Furniture & Accents

Now it’s time to shop!… Or at least decide the type of furniture you like. Even if you have a smaller budget, put your dream furniture on the mood board! That way you can look for budget friendly options of your favorite pieces. A tip to finding furniture is to keep your keywords + color palette in mind with each piece!

  5. Put Your Mood Board Together

Now you can add it all to your mood board! We use photoshop to do this, but there are a few great apps out there that you can use to do this as well! Once you have it all together, sort through and see what you like/don’t like and replace a few items to settle on the perfect look!
