Cotswolds Countryhouse: Behind Closed Doors Pt. X

The Primary Wing: Bed & bath & a closet peek

Today, I am sharing an update on the primary wing of my house which includes some of the most intimate spaces in my home. Intentionality, materiality, and wellness were three key points when designing and styling my bed & bath. I needed timeless pieces that felt soft and romantic yet classic and tailored all while remaining organic and cohesive with the rest of the home. Let’s dive in a little deeper…

Primary Wing: The Bed

My bedroom is a great juxtaposition of feminine and moody. The brands I chose to use are all ones I source daily for clients, but some of these pieces hold an extra special place in my heart. Why? Because I designed them! I first grounded the space with a plush dramatic rug to bring weight and have contrast between the organic materiality. Then I added softness by using a traditional slipcover bed and matched it with minimal bedding. This allowed for a clean canvas to then add character. Name something more charming than our Charli Nightstands. I’ll wait…This piece was the perfect accent of bespoke joinery. The pair fit like a glove and I love having the extra storage. We had to pay homage to vintage…Therefore, I had pillows made out of an antique French fabric to tie it all together. Info on my drapery is linked here! And how could I forget our Huey lighting collab Iris Sconce making its debut? This vintage-inspired objet d’art was the cherry on top. Coming May 1.

Primary Wing: The Bath

Plaster, everywhere and anywhere!

My bathroom gives European and I’m here for it. I used very English-influenced designs in this space and kept things neutral and textured. Due to the living materials like the marble detailing, stone flooring, and patinad finishes, *and like my skincare routine, this space will stand the test of time and age beautifully.

I’ve received hundreds of questions regarding the plaster details in my home recently and wanted to address some of the FAQ’s here! The plaster is tadelakt and was mixed to match Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore, the same color I used on the walls in my bedroom and bathroom. As for care, the plaster was waterproofed and can be cleaned with vinegar and water, nothing too crazy! Many of you asked about pricing and let me tell you, it is more costly due to the price of the material and the amount of layers it takes to apply. However, I do feel that it is absolutely worth the investment as I have always loved the look of plaster. This wall condition speaks for itself, but truly provides unparalleled texture, depth, and movement. The walls need less art and decor because of this timeless effect. We use plaster or roman clay in every project and it is a through line throughout all of our six styles because of it’s timeless effect. I especially love the depth and texture that a plaster shower brings and wanted to try it in my home before introducing it in a few of our clients homes. This really helped me understand the process and confirmed my admiration for the craft before selling it.
