Holiday Entertaining

Since gathering season is right around the corner, we thought it would be fun to get in the hostess spirit and share some of our favorite holiday tablescape tips & tricks! Whether formal or casual, our tips can be planned in advance or last minute. The number one thing to remember is to have fun and take pleasure in the simple things. We love creating a feeling in each of our homes or projects. That feeling comes from evoking the senses. Before getting started, light an herby candle, open the windows, turn off the lights and let the natural lighting be the ambiance, play some jazz music, prepare al fresco bites and mocktails/cocktails. It is all about creating an experience and making your guests feel at home from the moment they walk in. We think the best compliment is when someone comments on how homey your space feels. Fall has so many opportunities for entertaining and in this write up, you will find that we have made setting your next table a bit more effortless by sharing our favorite linens, focal points, tableware items, and so called “cherries on top” below..

step 1: linens

Once a color palette is solidified, we always start with linens! Tablecloths, runners, and napkins a great way to determine your base layer, set the tone for the theme, and add instant texture.

step 2: focal point

The perfect way to create harmony on your dining table is to craft a seasonal centerpiece; get creative here. It can be as traditional as a vase(s) or series of candelabras or as striking as a repurposed vintage silver plater overflowing with seasonal produce. Hot tip: use branches from your backyard or produce from your garden/local farmer for a in-season motif.

step 3: tableware

Next we set the table, plug in your favorite dish-ware, serve-ware and glassware. Mix in some fun serveware and pattern where you can!

And lastly, set the tone with extras. Swap out your usual dining chairs with ones from another space in your home, serve from your favorite cast irons and jazz up your kitchen by displaying beautiful objects/ vessels. Don’t forget to light your favorite candle!

Hot tip: Take a walk in the garden and use the herbs from your bounty! Tie fresh greenery in with string or ribbon around your homemade bread or napkins, garnish your provisions, or even collect herbs in bud vases for an aromatic experience.
